Island Lake artist kicks off Women’s Wednesdays at Forest Edge Gallery


Judy Wegenast was the first featured artist in a series of Women’s Wednesday events hosted at the Forest Edge Gallery in rural Vergas.

Visitors at the first of many Women’s Wednesday events at the Forest Edge Gallery in Vergas enjoyed appetizers, live music and plenty of art.
The Forest Edge Gallery offered mingling with live background musicians crooning softly, appetizers, plenty of visual stimulation and a guest of honor - Judy Wegenast.

Frazee-Vergas Forum wins six national awards


The photograph of a butterfly resting on a flower taken by Gale Kaas caught the eye of judges of the National Newspaper Association contest and won first place in the feature photography category.

Joleen Giefer earned a national award for capturing a tackle that resulted in a fumble and foretelling the action that would follow.

Barbie Porter won a national award in the literacy/education category for her article about Emily Hart.

The commemorative state wrestling poster created by Tammie Nunn and supported by many advertisers won three national awards.
Tammie Nunn brought home three national awards for her creation of the state wrestling pull-out.

Hiker nearly done with 4,000 mile walk, started adventure in winter


James Lunning recently hiked his way through Frazee as he nears the end of the North Country Trail. The Minnesota resident started his hike in February in New York.
James Lunning is walking because he has no debt. His walks have spanned from the northern part of the country to the southern portion, across the heartlands and his future plans include walking coast to coast.
