Rev. Gary Klempke, who has served the United Methodist churches in both Vergas and Frazee for 10 years, has left the local pulpit and will turn to retirement. He presided over a joint service for the two congregations Sunday, with the service being held at the Vergas house of worship. It was the 1,401st service for the minister. He and his wife will live in Browns Valley where he was police chief for many years before serving his first church in that area 13 years ago. One of his favorite avocations that will keep him busy is golf. Another hobby is watching NASCAR.
