Ware family receives original sign from longtime business


The original Gary’s Furniture sign was returned to the Ware family before the building was demolished. Pictured are (from left) Gary Ware, Brikker Ware, Heather Ware Nelson and Barb Ware.
The Gary’s Furniture building was knocked down last week, ending an era for a family business. However, the memories, and for some, the furniture, still remain.

Bricks installed on planter in time for rescheduled unveiling Sunday


Tom (Digger) Anderson volunteered his knowledge of masonry to prepare the planter at the scenic outlook along the Vergas Long Lake Trail extension for the upcoming ceremony.
Finishing touches at the Vergas Long Lake Trail Scenic outlook were done last week, just in time for the grand unveiling set for Sunday, Sept. 3 at 11 a.m. The trail extension location is along Otter Tail County Highway 60.

Justin Oelfke, a Frazee High School graduate, was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease MPGN-2 (Membranoproliferative Glomerulonephritis Type II), often referred to as Dense Deposit Disease (DDD) 17 years ago. He was only 16.

Davin Abraham holds a board like the ones he breaks at competitions. The middle child of Amber and Lucas Abraham recently placed third at nationals. The Detroit Lakes couple also have a son, Cailen, 12, and daughter, Bailee, 8.

Dance numbers boom with afternoon time change to monthly all-ages event


The old-time dances in Frazee are open to all ages and held the third Tuesday of each month through December in the White Pine Room from 1-4 p.m.
The popularity of old-time dancing may be fading amongst the younger generation with fewer schools requiring the two-step as part of the physical education curriculum. However, the dances still draw quite a crowd amongst adults.

Lions Park gets updates

Improvements at the popular Lions Park in Frazee are underway. The plan is to set forms for a concrete border around the playground area and fill the space with pea rock to prevent weed growth and make maintenance more efficient.

Frazee Library LINK site presents songs, stories from the 1930s


Bill Jamerson will be at the Frazee LINK Library Thursday, Sept. 7 at 10:30 a.m. at 305 Lake St N.
This fall, Lake Agassiz Regional Library is bringing a series of authors, musicians and entertainers to libraries across northwest Minnesota, as part of its Arts and Cultural Heritage Series.
