Vergas Maple Syrup Fest Saturday

The 14th annual Vergas Maple Syrup Festival will be held Saturday, April 12 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Vergas Event Center. 
Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy fresh hot pancakes topped with pure maple syrup produced from the woods of Vergas, along with homemade sausage, juice and coffee. Ticket prices for the Vergas Community Club fundraiser are $8 for adults and children 12 and under are $4.
Receive a maple sapling with breakfast to take home and plant (while supplies last). Visit the maple syrup booth and don’t forget to try a maple milk shake available for $2.
The sap will be running and so will the runners at the 10th annual 5K Maple Syrup Run/Walk starting and ending at Billy's Corner Bar in Vergas. Registration will be at 8 a.m. with the race starting at 9 a.m. Runners will receive a T-shirt or breakfast. Pre-registration fee of $20, race forms are available at or register the day of the race at Billy’s for $25. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers of all groups.
Bring the children to Vergas Assisted Living for an Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m. Maple syrup demonstrations will be shown at Maplewood State Park.
Don’t forget to stop and shop at the convenient downtown businesses in Vergas for unique items. A full view of the specials are advertised in this week’s paper on P. 11. 
The Quiet Cricket in Vergas is hosting a trunk show Saturday. The featured artist is Karla Urbach-Schmidt. She creates vintage jewelry combining leather, sterling, mixed metals and more. She’s also known for creating reclaimed home accent pieces.
Store hours are Friday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
