The halls of Frazee High School will be alive with the sound of music Monday, Nov. 11.

At 7:30 p.m., the junior high band will take the stage to be followed by the senior high band in the high school’s main gym.

Band director Brian Selander revealed the concert will include whimsical pieces that are aimed to take cares away with each note, and other pieces that have challenged even the most gifted musicians in the classes.

Selander noted fun pieces include Minka for the junior high and The Blunderer for the senior high, while the more difficult pieces include  With Valor and Honor and Journey into Diablo Canyon.

“I have really enjoyed seeing the musical development with the kids over the years,” Selander shared. Looking at the seniors and seeing how far they have come since they were in ninth grade when I first started teaching here  is a very cool thing.

“Not all teachers get to have the same students year after year, but that is the nice thing with music teachers; we get to see the improvement every year,” he continued. “And the junior high band are all students that I started out when they were in fifth grade, and now they are already in the junior high band. Seems crazy, guess time flies when you are having fun!”
