History of Frazee – April 1896- Feb. 1897

Albert (Ike) Fischer was born June 12, 1921, in Frazee where he grew up and attended school. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II he returned to the family farm near Frazee. He married Larene Haas. Their daughter Lori and son-in-law Don Thorp, Frazee, have two sons, Martin and Roger, and now live on the family farm while Ike and Larene reside in town.
4-10-1896. What’s the matter with the people of Becker County that they don’t investigate the sugar beet enterprise or a starch factory? Just as well manufacture a part of what we consume as to import it all.

Cally’s Corner: I gotta good feeling at Turkey Days

Cally and husband Darby Nundahl live in rural Frazee and have six children. Cally enjoys spending time with family and friends, quilting, writing, painting, the outdoors and the country life. She is a writer, photographer, typesetter and proofreader for the Frazee-Vergas Forum.
The day before the festivities of Turkey Days began, my daughter CallaBelle was stung by a bee, perhaps a hornet, or maybe a yellow jacket.

After about 50 years in journalism, I shouldn’t be surprised when nice events and good people contribute to the news. Actually, if we really pay attention, gratifying stories seem to pop up almost every week.

12-22-1893. The Corporation (Catholics?) is digging a well for the benefit of the public. B. Olmstead has the contract and the work is nearly completed.

Just a Derm Minute: Turkey Days photos a good way to start kids with a new camera

I remember fondly the first Turkey Day. In fact, I was around for many of the early ones. They were great.

Cally’s Corner: A mother’s love

CallaBelle, Darby, and granddaughter Cortney.
There is nothing greater than a mother’s love. We’ve all heard the saying and I hope that everyone reading this has experienced the gift of their mother’s love.
