Letter: Glander criticized

To the Editor:

The election season is on us and we all have friends and family on different sides of issues and platforms. The process of debate, discussion and choice is the essence of American liberty.

Ms. Maple

What a beautiful difference the sun makes as it brings this maple to life … and what a beautiful difference the Son makes when you invite His light into yours!
Chances are pretty good that you have come to know how very much I appreciate God’s creative handiwork we are blessed to be surrounded by … and that I enjoy reflecting upon His creative abundance within these ripples.

Once-in-a-lifetime experience at the Gulf of Mexico

Gale Kaas (left) with her friend since 1970 Linda Bjugstad O’Keefe from Van Alstyne, Texas discovered a stranded manatee in a bay connected to the Gulf of Mexico while on their morning sunrise walk at Naples, Fla. When the tide rose, the manatee found its baby and swam off.
I don’t usually write too much about vacations, but this year was surely something special.

There’s an app for that

Despite my many misgivings, I have been pulled into the world of smartphones, albeit dragging my feet accompanied by much harrumphing.

Heartland Trail, busy artery for outdoor activities

I’ve become a bit of a trail junkie, and an idiot. Luckily, I have a dog with an uncanny ability of getting me unlost.

Making, saving memories

This is my mom's 2014 memory board that I made, I also took the sheets and made a booklet for by her favorite chair. I add to it almost weekly, monthly for sure. Her short-term memory loss makes her feel very lonely as she does not remember visitors. A little review makes her smile and feel remembered. My mom is going to be 86 this month.
This past week, I said goodbye to summer while packing away all my items from the cabin.

I am truly blessed

It was five years ago Oct. 9 that I went from just another mom to “that poor mom whose son has cancer,” followed by “that poor mom whose son has terminal cancer,” followed by “that poor mom whose son died of cancer.”
