Test nets in Wolf Lake and Shell Lake will check extent of fish loss


Small sunfish and a few rough fish dotted the shorelines along Shell Lake after ice-out. A few northern pike and bullheads were also spotted in the floating wild rice rafts.

 Rumors that there have been cases of extensive winterkill on area lakes appear to be exaggerations.

Catering service expands to serve clients throughout the region


General Manager Anthony Soland stands by the catering trailer belonging to Spanky's catering division, Destination Dining. Fully stocked, the trailer has enough food to cater an affair for 400, with all refrigeration and cooking equipment self-contained.

 Can anyone – figuratively speaking – wrap their fingers around 650 pounds of barbecue ribs?

 Just getting picky over a few bones would likely be satisfying enough to a rib aficionado.
