Brenda Gjelsness won the title of Snellman Mayor last year during the random drawing. She and her husband Ron live in North Dakota, but own a vacation home on Toad Lake. Gjelsness is an at-home senior advisor at Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks. She also substitutes for water aerobics instructors at the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center.
Under the guidance of Snellman Mayor Brenda Gjelsness the village has sprouted from seven residents to 33 households and a new business has come to town.

The Miss Vergas and Princess Altona Scholarship Program crowned new royalty Aug. 13 at the Vergas Event Center. Lauren Anderson was named Miss Vergas 2015 and Lexi Moe is Princess Altona.
