Town Lake beach renovations begin


Becker County Soil and Water Conservation District workers were busy grooming the area near the boat dock that connects with the beach area Monday, June 18. Coir logs, plants and flowers will be planted as part of the project.
Renovations have begun at the city beach at Town Lake in Frazee. Becker County Soil and Water Conservation District workers were on site this Monday.

Frazee resident is one of 26 teachers in the state to receive Outstanding Educator Award


After teaching at M State in Detroit Lakes for 19 years, Frazee resident Cindy Moore earned a coveted Outstanding Educator Award from the state’s college system.
Cindy Moore recently received an award that inspired her not to retire.
 
The 61-year-old nursing instructor at M State of Detroit Lakes was bestowed an Outstanding Educator by the Minnesota State system.

Sculpture Trail ribbon cutting Saturday in Park Rapids


One of the first sculptures to be installed on the new Red Bridge Park Sculpture Trail is AntVenture by Al Belleveau of Puposky. Completed in 2014, the stone and steel artwork is 7.5 feet in height by 8 feet in diameter at the base.
The city of Park Rapids and Park Rapids Arts and Culture Commission invite the public to a ribbon cutting for the new Red Bridge Park Sculpture Trail at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16.

Fourth time is a charm, Wippich to retire


Lois Wippich sits by a sign of one of her favorite song lyrics from “Jesus Loves Me.” Her father used to sing the song to her as a young girl and she continued the tradition by singing it to many generations of children who attended Jesus Little Lambs Preschool in Vergas.
For the fourth time Lois Wippich is retiring from her teacher position at Jesus Little Lambs Preschool in Vergas.

Yard of the Month contest returns as turkey tracks appear downtown


Greta Nelson used a stencil to paint turkey tracks on the sidewalk.

Volunteers from the Frazee Area Community Club painted the first section of turkey tracks on the sidewalk leading from the small turkey to the large one. Project volunteers included (from left) Danita Ketter, Daneele Shipman, Charlie Clark, Greta Nelson, Nicolette Clark and Missy (Daggett) Clark.
The Frazee Area Community Club is welcoming back the Yard Of the Month contest.

Forest Edge Gallery adds to popular summer event


Abstract painter Sandra Gehrig and her husband Wally, who creates painted drums, will be at Forest Edge Gallery giving demonstrations June 27. Some of their work is on display in the gallery located in rural Vergas.
The Forest Edge Art Gallery in Vergas is grilling up some fun with the opportunity to watch fine art being created.
