In four hours FHS grad loses everything in fire


A recent fire at Strawberry Lake destroyed all the belongings of Dan Goble and Frazee natives Christina Lacey and her three children.

 It only took an estimated four hours for Christina Lacey and her three children to lose all their belongings.

Black Lab-cross smells zebra mussels in fight against AIS

 Everyone knows dogs can smell any kind of food from a considerable distance. Just run a can opener and ears come up and noses wiggle.

 But zebra mussels? One of the Aquatic Invasive Species that Minnesota is fighting?

United Methodist pastor will retire to Browns Valley home


Rev. Gary Klempke, who has served the United Methodist churches in both Vergas and Frazee for 10 years, has left the local pulpit and will turn to retirement. He presided over a joint service for the two congregations Sunday, with the service being held at the Vergas house of worship. It was the 1,401st service for the minister. He and his wife will live in Browns Valley where he was police chief for many years before serving his first church in that area 13 years ago. One of his favorite avocations that will keep him busy is golf. Another hobby is watching NASCAR. Photo by John W. Dermody

 Taxiing down the runway at 55 mph, a Cessna 150 lifts from the ground and floats off into the blue sky.

 Vergas resident Rich McCrady gave a rundown on the purpose of each dial on the instrument panel, and then banked the plane.

FHS grad bikes 300 miles on 1976 Schwinn for MS


The annual MS 150 ride from Proctor to St. Paul drew more than 4,000 riders, including Frazee graduate Mike Miosek who opted to bike 300 total miles.

 Mike Miosek recently hopped on his 1976 pink and blue Schwinn and peddled almost 300 miles to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society.
