Goodman’s SuperMarket to close Oct. 16


Theresa Harthun pulls out a rack of fresh baked buns. Restaurants in Vergas will need to find another bakery to provide the buns.
Goodman’s SuperMarket will celebrate 41 years in business before shutting its doors Sunday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. 
 
Theresa Harthun said the decision was made by the family with heavy hearts.

Lammers to lead Vergas Liquor Store into new year with giveaways, big specials


Julie Lammers, the interim Vergas liquor store manager, holds up two items currently on sale. She will remain the manager until the council hires a new one, possibly as soon as January. Lammers is hoping to bring the sales up and the store’s debt to zero by the end of the year.
The Vergas Liquor Store Committee plans to hire a new manager to start 2017. The in-between time is to get the store in tip-top shape and hire two part-time clerks.
