Flapjack fundraiser Sunday celebrates 30 years of life-saving volunteerism


Frazee Rescue is hosting a pancake fundraiser Sunday, June 14 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the rescue building on Becker County Highway 29.
Soft, fluffy stacks of heavenly pancakes will be waiting in the warmer for people to grab a fork and enjoy a morning without dishes.

Scouts from Troop 322 from Vergas have been working this past year doing fundraisers, plus getting help from great local groups like the Vergas Lions, Frazee Sportsman’s Club, Frazee VFW, Frazee AmVets and KLN from Perham.

Frazee’s paved path hits $70,000 snag, Becker County, MnDOT pitch in funds


The asphalt path location is shown in the above drawing and is located behind Red Willow Drive and on school property.
The bids were opened for the construction of Frazee’s first paved non-motorized path, and sticker shock hit.

Study to determine how much money can be made off of the wind, sun


The map is from the Wind Energy Development website (http://windeis.anl.gov/index.cfm) and has the recorded wind speeds in Frazee in marginal capabilities for wind turbines. An anemometer placed atop the Frazee water tower reportedly yeilded results of almost 13 mph on average. Source: Wind Energy Development
The Frazee Economic Development Authority recently approved taking a $25,000 loan out with the Minnesota Department of Commerce to pay for a clean energy feasibility study. The loan comes with 2 percent interest and a 3-year-term.

Riebe brings headstones back to life

The headstone of Josephine Ligon was full of moss, mildew and grime. After Bruce Riebe hand-cleaned it the stone looked almost new.
The cemetery is a calming place for Bruce Riebe.

Little turkey’s new digs OK’d by council

The design of Little Turkey Park on the corner of Main Avenue and Lake Street was recently reviewed by the city council.
The Little Turkey Park makeover plans reveal a clean-cut street corner, encouraging photo opportunities and socializing.
 
The design was revealed at the monthly Frazee City Council meeting Monday, June 8.
