Locals diagnosed with Lyme disease, still fighting aftereffects


Tiffany Schermerhorn and her son Gabe are hoping a vaccine for Lyme disease is developed soon. Gabe contracted the disease from a tick at his rural Detroit Lakes home where his lives with his mom and dad (Mark) and siblings Paige, 17, Kodi, 10, Noah, 6, and Mia, 4.
Gabe Schermerhorn was nearing his seventh birthday when he fell seriously ill.
 
The rural Detroit Lakes boy began having headaches so severe they caused him to vomit.
