Work on Shell Lake weir underway; allows fish in and out of lake


The large rocks in the water outline the outer borders of the weir (not the silt protector). More work will be done between the lake rocks and the river.
The first steps to install a fish weir in Shell Lake’s outlet to the Shell River are underway.
 
Once completed, the work will allow fish to come into the lake from the river and visa versa.

The 16th annual Ronald McDonald House Ride will start in New York Mills and stop for lunch in Frazee before continuing on June 10.
About 1,000 motorcycles are expected to be parked on Frazee’s Main Avenue Saturday, June 10 as participants in the 16th annual Ronald McDonald House Ride stop for lunch.

Sportsman’s club carp shoot pulls 10,000 pounds from area lakes

The Toad River Assassins, Austen Schultz (left) and Vern Bachmann, took top prize in the carp shoot for the second consecutive year.
Saturday, May 20, 50 bow fishers headed out to lakes in the counties of Becker and Otter Tail and returned in the early dawn of the following day with about 10,000 pounds of carp.

Garbage fees climb again in Frazee

Refuse service costs in Frazee are increasing for the second straight month. 
 
Last month the council approved a $1 increase and in May 70 cents was added to the total.
