Spirit Lake Resort has new owners


Spirit Lake Resort near Vergas has several cabins available for rental next season.
The serene and rustic Spirit Lake Resort was recently purchased by four siblings: Brad Malstrom (rural Perham) and his brothers Jay (rural Vergas) and Corey (Redwood Falls) and sister Melissa Rensch (North Dakota).

Vergas Trail tally breaks $50,000


An artistic rendition shows the proposed floating boardwalk connecting the Vergas Long Lake Trail with Tin Can Alley.
The Vergas Trail Committee continues to plug away at bringing a floating boardwalk to town, as it has  now raised $54,108.

Quilters of Valor organization honors veteran on Veteran’s Day in Vergas


Marsha Hovland wrapped her husband Larry in a quilt made from the Dent Quilts of Valor group. He was presented the quilt on Veterans Day at the Vergas Event Center.
The Vergas Zumba group took a break on Veterans Day as veteran Larry Hovland of Pelican Rapids was given a quilt from the Quilts of Valor organization.

Frazee Fire Department, police respond to Election Day emergency at polling site


Frazee Fire Department was at the polling site for Frazee and Burlington Township shortly after the power went out to provide generator power.
Hope was a common feeling on Election Day (Nov. 8), but in the Frazee area around 6 p.m., those feelings shifted to anxiety for many.
