Just inside the main entrance of Frazee Elementary is a new sign that likely caught the eyes of many students as classes began Tuesday, Sept. 6.

New owners of Curley’s bring back bingo, add to menu


Mark Porter purchased Curley’s on Cotton Lake along with Paul Okeson (not pictured). One of the more noticeable additions when a customer comes in are the two large TVs at the bar area.
Bingo is back at Curley’s every Tuesday night starting at 6 p.m. 
 
New owners Mark Porter and Paul Okeson brought back the favorite pastime along with the chance to win big bucks, up to $1,000 of them.

Vergas supermarket to have 42nd year celebration this Saturday

After 42 years offering products that families use to put dinner on the table, Goodman’s SuperMarket wants to give thanks by hosting a customer appreciation party Saturday, Sept. 3 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Andersen is second in family to take 20,000-mile journey across Americas


Ian Andersen plans to start a 20,000-mile bicycle ride, from Alaska to Argentina, in September.
Ian Andersen, 23, plans to start a bicycle journey from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Ushuaia, Argentina Sept. 1 to raise awareness (and money) for the United Spinal Association.

Glander retires after 30 years of community service


Wolf Lake Rescue President Dennis Hass (left) presented Scott Glander with an appreciation plaque after 30 years of service.
Scott Glander was given a commemorative plaque in appreciation of his 30 years of dedication and service to his community Aug. 11.
 
In 1987, Scott joined the Wolf Lake Rescue Squad.
