Kathy was homeless, living on the streets of a nearby reservation. One day a teacher took notice of the dog all the kids seemed to give attention and treats to. She asked her students whose dog it was, and they said everyone’s.

Oftedahl takes first in Vergas 5K


Vergas Lions member Rodger Palmer accepted the hidden maple leaf medallion from Calie Berg and Adrianna Manzella, both of Moorhead, in exchange for a gift prize basket. The winner of Saturday’s homemade maple syrup contest was David Trickle of Spirit Lake.
The annual Sap’s Running 5K during Vergas’ Maple Syrup Festival drew 91 participants for the event Saturday, April 8.
 
Of the 91, eight runners reside in Frazee and 12 live in Vergas.
